Amazing how many different types of uniforms in the Marine corps. Here we have a dozen color prints, ten of which show uniforms from day-to-day to white formal. The other two are all about pins, medals, and ribbons. All are inside a blue potfolio which is clean and attractive. The portfolio then goes into its original envelope. The prints measure 16-1/4" x 20-1/2" and are in full color. I have a couple more of these -- two of the same ones about the Marines in the Middle East, and a naval one. I will eb posting the others, but if you want to see before that let me know and I'll get you some pi... View more info

Condition: Pages fine; Slipcase Very good
This is not a book -- it's an exhibition portfolio designed to tell the story of the Erie Canal and its life in canal boats and other historic items. There's a map, photos, and art on the 50 prints. Each print is numbered which is very helpful too.. The only defect here is the slipcase which has a small bit of wear to the top of the opening and some sunning to the back. Overall it's a very nice item. It, along with six other such portfolios, were published in the early 1970's. I also have "The Lower East Side" (of New York City). View more info

Though written by two different authors, these two booklets were not only printed by the same publisher, but offer material which compliments each other. Bot hbooklets also appear unread. Barooshian is a painter/printmaker and was past president of the Society of American Graphics. Huaser, at the time of writing, was director of Busyhaus Workshop and a fellow of the American Institute of Conservation. The time for these two is NOW, as fine presses, paper making, conservation etc are all part of the current interest in the book arts. Both measure 5-1/4" x 8-1/2" with 26 pages collectively. Condition: Fine condition
Two very pretty prints which came from a disbound children's book. I bought then from a dealer who retired, but all during his long career he salvaged prints from books which fell on hard times. He has a note in it indicating that the prints came from Hawthorne's Tanglewood Tales published in 1927. Research shows a Rand McNally edition, but the art is different. I also found a Maxwell Parrish edition from 1927, but that, too, is not right. I did, however, find a photo of the print of Pandora opening the box of bad spirits and letting them out, so at least I know it existed beyond this one!The ... View more info

Beautiful item with no no defect to booklet, or any of the 24 prints. The folder is clean and strufy with just a small flat crease to upper front corner and a few superficial scratches. All materials are based on the Chandler-Pohrt Collection, a vast accumulation amassed by Milford G. Chandler and Richard A. Pohrt. Their story is an interesting one and is laid out in the booklet. By the time they reached retirement age they had 4000 items between them. The booklet has 24 pages illustrated with black and white photographs which augment a length text. The prints are on card stock and are glossy... View more info

Currier and Ives usually show up in a large format, but here we have a pocket sized book which measures just 4" x 4-1/2" and still provides a 24 page text and over 300 color prints. Among the many charming pictures are these themes: the Founding Fathers, ships and seafaring, children, plantation life, Native Americans, horses, religion and much more. Nice little gift book -- clean and with no spine crease and no names or writing. The only defect is a shadow from a poorly planted price sticker which has since fallen off. View more info

This is one of those gems that due to their diminutive size somehow get lost. I have no idea where I got this -- I have more items to list than I have posted. The booklet was written by the owner of the engraving company in Cleveland. It measures 3"x 5-1/2" and has 14 pages and a fold-out at the back which shows the best way to reproduce the various kinds of copy -- water color, line drawing, crayon or pencil, photograph, print from wood engraving, lithograph, maps, oil paintings, type writing and more.
