Price: $20.00

Publisher: New York, St. Gregory Musical society Inc.: 1919

Seller ID: 0143

Condition: Very Good

This two-piece souvenir of a 1919 evening of liturgical music marks the first time in history that the choirs from the Roman Basilicas and the Vatican performed outside of Rome. The program does not indicate the city directly, but an Ohio reference on back cover and the fact that the location was St. Clair Avenue leads us to believe it had to have been Cleveland. The most important piece, however, is the larger brochure which measures 8x10" and is profusely illustrated and filled with information about the choirs and their history. Although unpaginated, we counted 24. Cover, though simple, is ... View more info

Price: $20.00

Publisher: Unknown: 1913

Condition: Good

Rare four page brochure advertising actress Carlotta Nillson starring in her one and only film, "Leah Kleschna." A few small stains to front and some flat creasing, but overall clean and graphically appealing. Illustrated with stills from film inside. Synopsis on back. Swedish born Nillson was primarily a stage actress, both before and after this film which, despite the success of the play, was a box office bomb in the four-reel screen version. Nillson was one of producer Adolph Zuckor's Famous Players. By the 1920's though she'd fallen out of favor and began taking smaller roles. Eventually s... View more info

Very nice clean program which shows the schedule for the entire summer of music and theatre at Chautauqua during the summer of 1942, as well as articles and photographs of the performers. Measures 8-1/2"x 11-1/4" and has 32 pages. There is a vertical crease down the center from having been folded, as so many programs were, but the crease is light. What's interesting about this particular one is the stuff I found inside. The previous owner was a young woman, Elizabeth Lorson, from Wooster, Ohio who was in New York City hoping to be taken on by a voice trainer of merit. Someone from back home wr... View more info

Publisher: The North American Association of Venezuela: 1966

Surprisingly scarce program published in honor of the 25th Independence Day Dance hosted by the North American Association of Venezuela. Clearly, this was a big event, as the ads in the program are largely national -- Chrysler has the back cover and Helena Rubenstein cosmetics has the flip side. Others inside include Ponds, Sears, Chevrolet, Elizabeth Arden and many more. The program is large at 9"x12" and has much information about the event itself, the liberation of Venezuela, and the ties that bind Venezuela to the United States. Illustrated with black and white photographs. The program is... View more info

This is such a fun find. I've had the sesquicentennial book a couple times, but I've never seen the cloth banner. Yet here they are together from the same previous owner. The banner is quite large at 27"x36" and is printed on one side. There is a small section at the lower right corner where the thread seems a little dirty on the hem, but otherwise it's crisp and clean. The program shows a little wear, but not much, and has no names or writing. Inside there is a laid-in certificate with no name filled in for the Cuyahoga Falls Area Jubilee Belles. The program measures 8-1/2"x11" and is filled ... View more info

Crisp and clean inside and out. This is a very nice program with a surprise inside -- a color print that reads at the bottom "Air Force. A great way of life." On the reverse side is stamped USAF Recruiting Office Berea, Ohio. At the top is handwritten: To my Air Show buddy, Mr. Macy. Love, Richard." This program is quality printed on coated paper throughout and measures 8-1/2"x11" with 66 pages and many photos, ads, and informational articles. Cleveland is the only city to have had an annual air show of this size since 1929. Among the highlights were the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, the U.S. ... View more info

These items came together so I am leaving them together, as both are mementos of the last Cleveland Indians baseball season to be held at the old Cleveland Stadium. The magazine measures 8-1/2"x11" and still retains its unused scorecards for the final series at Cleveland Stadium. It's a glossy magazine with lots of photos and Cleveland baseball history. Magazine is clean and bright with just one tear to lower front corner which was repaired on reverse side with tape by former owner. The print measures 8"x11" also and shows likenesses of Andre Thornton, Mel Harder, Bob Feller and Lou Boudreau. ... View more info

Nice, clean oversized program which measures 9"x12" and is illustrated throughout with both black and white and color photographs. Pages are not numbered, but I counted 22, all filled with information about the Scots Guards, the Black Watch and the Regimental Band, as well as about the Highland dancing and the bagpipe. The program itself takes up a two page spread at center. Only faults are two light scratches to cover and a small bit of rubbing to bottom front corner next to spine. Pages show no writing or creasing. View more info

Publisher: Hamburg, Germany, Thalia Theatre: 1992

An uncommon item, published in tandem with the opening of the dark opera, Alice, which is based on Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. The lyrics probe not the story as much as how it pertains to its author. Was not intended for children. Inside front cover (see photo two) is a small drawing signed by its artist. I can't decipher the first namel, but I do believe the last name is Zinn. I immediately thought of David Zinn who does have a history with the Thalia Theatre, but I can't say for sure that this is right. Research shows no account of him having anything to do with the set design for ... View more info

Very nice clean program which is more leaflet than booklet, but not too often seen. It's not a play, more of a review with a number of different acts including the Amin Brothers, Paul Sydell, Joe Smith and Charlie Dale, Giselle and Francois Szony. Alan King (comedian), and primarily -- JUDY GARLAND! There's info about each act, but Judy takes center stage. Measures 6"x9" and is clean with no tears and no names. It was folded vertically at one time, but is totally flat now. Very nice. View more info

This is a hefty, significant program -- more book than booklet! But the event was so enormous it's worthy of the paper used to print it. Saengerfest was a national song festival which consisted of five concerts held over three days to accommodate the HUGE crowds. Twenty-six trains were charted just to bring in the thousands of PARTICIPANTS. The Cleveland schools also contributed singers. The event was also a commemoration of the centenary of the death of Beethoven. The program measures 7-3/4" x 10-1/4" and is very tightly bound with complete spine strip. Beautiful clean program from an annual event, but this time spiffed up for the 25th anniversary. Cover is a red suede with silver printing and a silver piece of antique furniture on the face. Contents are filled with the usual gorgeous photos of antiques and ads placed by dealers and ancillary companies. This issue focuses on the annual loan exhibition which was a retrospective featuring items from past exhibits come together in a new show. Gorgeous photos. A nice keepsake too. I have many programs from this event, so if you are looking for a specific one let me know and I'll look for it. View more info

Ephemera from the Excelsior Club, a social venue founded in Cleveland in 1872, is not often seen, but here we have a program from New Year's Eve 1927. The club was much like the Cleveland Union Club, but for upscale Jewish families with a Germanic cultural background. From the beginning help from the Halle family of Halle's department store fame was integral to the club's success. The program shows the scenes of a musical "The Good Old Days" which required members to take to the stage as singers, dancers, musicians, actors and tambourine players. Looks like great fun and is a glimpse at a Cl... View more info

I saw the word Playbill on the spine of the binder and had to have it, especially when I saw that the shows were older, from 1968 to the 80's. There are 14 programs in all, most of which are Playbills from the various New York City Broadway theaters, but there's also a couple from community theaters close by but outside the city, including Jones Beach. Some programs have ticket stubs stapled to them which is always a bonus. New York shows include The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie; Plaza Suite; 1776; Company; Sleuth; No, No Nanette; Annie; Peter Pan and more. Very nice find for a theater buff. View more info
