I bought this book not knowing that it should contain a CD. I think it's possible to find one, but even without it the book's usable. It's the third in a progression of music books for children by this author. The booklet measures 8-3/4" x 11" and has 41 pages. The book features song transcriptions, directions for games and parties, extra instructions for making it easier or more advanced, song history, and music reading examples based on folk songs. There are also complete indices of the following: subject matter, instrumentation, song type, grade level, meter and time signatures, tone sets, m... View more info

Beatiful crisp, clean copy signed on face by Zelma George and dated 1963. George, a noted Clevelander who served on various committees during the Eisenhower administration, came to Ohio to study African American music at the Cleveland Public Library. There she wrote the musical Chariot's AComin! and headlined in The Medium, an opera by Gian-Carlo Menotti, at Karamu Theater. She is considered to be one of the first Black women to assume this typically Caucasian role. One can only surmise that this is her personal copy of the lecture delivered May 18, 1962. the lecture consists of 23 pages. View more info

I never seem to find Christmas items at Christmas, so here we go looking ahead for this year's holiday. This book is so pretty, the paper is beautiful as is the lovely lavender color for the card cover. In addition of Helen Siegl's woodcuts are the lyrics to 12 beloved Christmas songs -- The first Nowell, While Shepherd's Waiting, Hark the Herald Angels Sing; On come All Ye Faithful; What Child Is This; Good King Winceslas, O Tennenbaum, Deck the Hall, God Rest You Merry Gentlemen, I Saw Three Ships, O little Town of Bethlehem, and We Three Kings of Orient Are. The book is lovely, measures ... View more info

These books are charming. I have four at the moment, but am starting with Rigoletto. The book is small at 4-1/2" x 5-3/4" and has a bio of the composer, a commentary which explains the nuances of the plot, a list of characters, and the libretto itself. There is also a list of recordings from Columbia and Victor, plus famous themes from Rigoletto. There is also aan image of Verdi at frontis. View more info

Very nice, clean magazine with no mailing label. Cover fatures Garth Brooks and contains an article about him inside. I took a photo of the contents page, but here are some other highlights: Rod Stewart, Jeff Beck, Jaye Davidson, Ice-T, Oscar rejects, and an article about then Presdident Bill Clinton and his ideas which looked progressive, but, according to the writer, might not have been. The magazine measures 10" x 12-1/4" and has 68 pages. Amazing that that was over 20 years ago. I have other issues from the 90's, so if you are looking for a specific issue use the contact button and let me ... View more info

Very nice clean magazine with no mailing label. It's tightly bound with no creasing and is clean inside and out. Yhe only defect is a snip off the lower front corner of the front page. It's almost misleading because the next page fills in the color at first glance. The main article and photos focus on Tom Cruise, but the other interesting interview is with Noam Chomsky, "An American Radical". Among other story subjects are the Beastie Boys, Wynona Judd, Johnny Carson, and the media's running away from race issues. magazine measures 10" x 12" and has 75 pages. View more info

Here we have a very hard to find music magazine which may have been The Etude of its day. Like most 19th century magazines it's printed on lightweight paper and has dense pages featuring many short articles and comments on each page. There's also music at the back with score and lyrics -- in this instance mostly it's Christmas songs. Also, includes advertising. What's interesting is that it hails from Cincinnati, Ohio, which at the time of publication was an important publishing hub. The magazine is very nice with just the occasional spot of foxing -- one at bottom front edge of cover and one ... View more info
