This edition has been specially printed and bound and sgned by the author. This Cleveland theater program is interesting for a couple reasons -- the back story of the play and the fact that it was in Cleveland as a fundraiser for the Dorcas Invalid Home, a Cleveland charitable center for indigent or poor people suffering from terminal conditions. As for the play, it launched originally in New York City under the title Bibi of the Toy Shop, but was blasted by the critics and forced to close after only a few days. Along came John B. Klaus George Roy may not be internationally recognized, but he was very well known on the Cleveland music scene. From 1958-1988 he served as program annotator and editor for the Cleveland Orchestra and was actually better known than most of the musicians! He was also a composer and this composition from 1953 was published as part of the AMI Library of Choral Literature. What a fun copy of this 1963 program! There's a name on the front that I can't make out, and lots of other names inside which I can. The signatures are from the singers of the May Festival Chorus. This is a new one for me, so it was great fun to find it. The cover is made of heavy cardstock with a mottled paper overlay. You can see light brown, dark brown, reds and greens, especially on the back. I think maybe a couple of the dark ones on the front might be stains, but I'm not sure.
