Price: $20.00

Publisher: New York, St. Gregory Musical society Inc.: 1919

Seller ID: 0143

Condition: Very Good

This two-piece souvenir of a 1919 evening of liturgical music marks the first time in history that the choirs from the Roman Basilicas and the Vatican performed outside of Rome. The program does not indicate the city directly, but an Ohio reference on back cover and the fact that the location was St. Clair Avenue leads us to believe it had to have been Cleveland. The most important piece, however, is the larger brochure which measures 8x10" and is profusely illustrated and filled with information about the choirs and their history. Although unpaginated, we counted 24. Cover, though simple, is ... View more info

Price: $10.95

Publisher: New York, The Knapp Company: Unknown

Condition: Near fine

This is the prettiest card I've seen using a line from F. Earl Christy's poem "The Lost Chord." Most of them are in black and white with a rather disheveled background, though more of the verse. This shows only the first line -- clearly it's part of a series -- which reads "Seated one day at the organ I was weary and ill at ease ..." The small center graphic is lovely and makes for an understated, elegant card. It has not been postally used and there is no writing. It's numberd 381. View more info

Measures 8-1/2"x 11-1/4" and has 32 pages. There is a vertical crease down the center from having been folded, as so many programs were, but the crease is light. What's interesting about this particular one is the stuff I found inside. Contents include both instruction )with a few photographs) and music, including marches, quicksteps, laments, and Strathspey's reels and country dances. There's also Piobaireachd Exercises. The booklet measures 8"x11" and has plentiful black and white photographs as well as odd facts such as his measurements for the perfect girl (including her ankles and wrists) and his Demandments of Beauty. The magazine is in very good condition (only some foxing to first two pages because of the form)and measures 7"x9-1/2".
