Excellent black and white postcard which shows not only the church as it was in 1914, but also provides two insets, one of the previous church and the other a portrait of its minister, Rev. E.P, Herbruck, who had served the church for 27 years. The card is clean with sharp corners and was never mailed, though it does have a message which helped date it. Private Mailing Cards William McKinley Home, McKinley Funeral (1891-1901)

Price: $35.00

Publisher: U.S., Private publisher: 1891

These are private mailing cards which have not been used. The back of the cards indicate that they were "Private Mailing Cards" which were authorized by Act of Congress May 19, 1898 and continued through 1901. After that the buzzword was "postcard." The reason these were called Private Mailing Cards is because the government couldn't create enough new images to make the citizens happy, so private printers were allowed to print their own, as long as they maintained the authorization on the back. The house is the McKinley family homed located in Canton, Ohio. The second card shows the pallbearer... View more info

The Tumble Bug was a ride located on the shores of Chippewa Lake in Medina County, Ohio. It's long gone now, but much fun was had there for decades. Check out the dresses and suits people wore to an amusement park! The card was sent to Miss Lois Weiler of West Salem, Ohio from Ann. The card is nice with just a small spot to middle of top edge and a very small light spot of foxing to right margin. There's also a shallow crease to the upper right corner. Card will arrive in a brand new plastic sleeve. View more info

I haven't been aware of this postcard set, but I knew a good thing when I found it! There are ten postcards printed with black and white photographs and a blue "frame" on each. The cards are a tad larger than usual, measuring 4-1/2" x 6". All are crisp and clean with no writing or postal stampings. Port Columbus opened on July 8, 1929 with Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone and Edsel Ford in the audience. The folders (there are two) are crisp and clean also, but there is a tiny tear to the right side of the main folder. I used a very tiny piece of archival tape on the reverse side and all is well. A ... View more info

Beautiful crisp postcard unused for both message and mailing. Colors are bright and corners are sharp. Only fault is a light skim of browning to back primarily at the address section. The card has a divided back and a white border to image. There is no date, but it can be approximated given the fact that the hall was opened as a dorm for women in 1924 at Ohio Wesleyan University of Deleware, Ohio. More than 20 years ago it took on new life when students and retirees both took up residence in the building. The card will arrive in a plastic sleeve. View more info
