1940's Wedding Pictures; Hand Colored and Duotone

By: N/A

Price: $20.00

Publisher: Cleveland, Ohio, Atlas Studio:

Seller ID: 0104

Condition: Very Good

These are very interesting - not just because everyone looks so nice and they're sooooooo 40's, but because of the photography. What we have here is a framed duotone under glass and a loose hand-colored photo of the same wedding with the addition of the groom and groomsmen. Both photos were take by Atlas Studio of Cleveland, but, sadly, we don't know who these people are. The duotone is sealed in a leatherette frame which has a stand on the back for display. The inside image is 8"x10" and the frame is 11-1/2"x13". The color one is also 8x10", so it's easy to frame. View more info

Here we have two small portraits of happy, handsome teenagers from the turn-of the century. The picture to the left shows two kids in big hats while the one on the right shows a very pretty girl with Gibson-girl hair. Both fit into a specially designed card with embossed oval "frames". Totally charming -- but no clue as to who they are or where they lived. View more info

Though slim, this lovely clean album captures in eleven photographs a July vacation in Grayling, Michigan, known for its summer get-aways. The pictures are all of the same group, both men and women. Some views are scenic -- a lake, a bridge, a winding road, and a nice log cabin, but there are also people enjoying archery practice, women on the lake in a canoe, posed shots on the bridge, an old car stuffed with people, a shed showing three old cars lined up inside and a car with an open trailer filled with stuff outside in front of the cabin where a man observes. The album measures 6"x8-1/2" and... View more info

Two adorable little boys with no names recorded. The photo was taken in Canton, Ohio by Parker Studio located at 104 Market Avenue. Its owner was J.B. Parker who appears on Langdon's List of 19th & Early 20th Century Photographers. He appears to have been around from 1910 to 1920, so this at least provides a guesstimate as to when this iamge was taken. One of the clues of course is the conveyance the littest guy is sitting in, but I can't find a word for it to research it! It's not a tricycle (four wheels, two small, two large) and its not a pedal car (no pedals), or a walker, or a carriage. ... View more info

Four Photographs, One Drawing, The Shale Brick Company, Columbus, Ohio

By: N/A

Price: $20.00

Publisher: Columbus, Ohio, Unknown origin: Unknown

Seller ID: 0635

Condition: Very good

This is a decidedly mysterious and odd item. It consists of four photographs of the former Shale Brick Company of Columbus, Ohio, plus a drawing of an auger. The drawing shows paper around the edges and old glue stain, so at least it, if not the photos too, had been affixed to something else at one time. Everything is old, but the mounting and labeling on cardstock is quite contemporary. The photos are labeled The Shale Brick Company, Columbus, Ohio 17th Avenue Brick Plant, Mixing Plant, Elevated Tressel (sic) for Cars Conveying Raw Materials to Plant, and Mixing Plant. The drawing is caption... View more info

What a fun find! Poll-Parrot Shoes and the gang from the Howdy Doody Show teamed up to bring Baby Boomers a very cool premium. It's bright and colorful and contains four real photos pasted in -- the star himself, Clarabell the Clown, Mr. Bluster and Flub-a-Dub. The photo shown is printed on the page. There's also music and lyrics to the show's famous theme song (can you hear it in your head?), plus the Poll Parrot Song. The back page spread shows a cartoon ad for shoes and an array of wacky things seen on the show like the Talkascope and the Flap-Doodle. The album measures 8-3/4"x11" and has 1... View more info

These movie books of black and white stills published by Perfection Form are a film lover's dream come true. You rarely see them, but I just got three or four and will list as they surface. The glossy prints and their cover (no text except captions) measure 10"x13" and are clean and bright with no faults. Could be easily removed from spiral binding for framing. Photos include Penelope weaving a funeral shroud for Laertes; Ulysses discovered on the shores of Scheria by Nausicaa; Ulysses and his men in the cave of Cyclops; Circe turns Ulysses' men into swine; Athene disguises Ulysses as an old b... Cute little boy all spiffed up on First Communion Day. Sadly, he is lost to time -- no name, just the clue from the photography studio that he was from the Cleveland area. The knickers date him to the early 1900's. On the table next to him he's holding his little black prayer book which was the emblem of the occasion. Very handsome composition in sepia. The folder which turns into an easel for display is clean and seemingly unused. The only fault is browning to the deckled edges of the paper mounted beind the mat. The image itself measures 4"x6" and is exquisitely "framed" in a textured metall... View more info
