French Hand-Tinted Photo Postcard Woman at Tea Table 1922

By: N/A

Price: $18.95

Publisher: France, 1922

Seller ID: 0125

Condition: Very Good

Pretty in peach is this lovely young woman seated at a tea table alone -- or is she? Her expression may say otherwise! The details and the hand tinted dress, tea things, lamp and flowers add so much charm. This card was sent in the mail from Vianen, but is still quite lovely with no real wear. The divided back has a lengthy message and was sent to someone in Europe. View more info

Hand-tinted Postcard Young Girl with Flower Basket Numbered 529/1

Condition: Fine

This is a pretty card, but I can't decide if she's a young woman or a girl. She has the tiny body of a child and yet the marcelled hair and make-up make her seem older. There is no writing on the card at all and no indication of origin, but most of these vintage tinted cards derived from either France or Belgium. This one shows a number, 529/1 at the lower right hand corner. It's slightly undersized compared to the standard postcard, but only by a quarter of an inch on both length and width. Very beautifully done. View more info

Tinted Photo Postcard Young Girl Bobbed Hair Sitting on Pedestal

Price: $9.95

This pretty young lady is very slender in her diaphanous neglegee perched on top of a pedestal. I can't tell if her bobbed hair has been tinted a bit, but the trim on her gown has, as has the column of the pedestal. The only identification on it anywhere is the number 1517/3 in the lower right hand corner. The card has a divided back, but no message or address and no stamps. View more info

French Tinted Postcard Beautiful Woman in Garden

Price: $12.95

Publisher: Paris, Reutlinger: No date

Seller ID: 0311

Condition: Near Fine

The tinting of this card is so subtle you don't notice it at first glance. But there are green leaves and a pale pink gown. I'm not sure what this lovely lady is doing, but she's definitely in a flower garden. The card has not been used, so no real clue to date. But it appears to be from the early 1900's. The back is not divided and bears no writing. Up in the left hand corner at front it says that it's part of series no. 12. View more info

Lovely hand-tinted card showing a young woman with abundant hair trimmed with roses to match the roses on her bodice. Tiny "beads" form her necklace. the card is postmarked 1913 and was sent to Miss Belle Edson of East Jewett, New York. The message reads "What do you think of this young lady? Raymond." The lower left corner shows a logo reading NPG and the right corner has the number 1946. Small bit of corner wear at bottom only fault. View more info

Tinted Postcard Dutch Girl with Basket 1912 (Spanish Postmark)

Condition: Fine

This hand-tinted vintage postcard is in exceptionally nice condition despite the fact that it had been sent through the mail. Both the sender and the recipient were from Spain and the Spanish postage stamp is still present. The message is in Spanish and was sent to a woman named Pilar from her friend Carmen Garcia Carillo. I brushed off my high school Spanish a little and I think Carmen was saying that Christmas was coming and she would be spending it with friends and family. The Dutch girl on the cover is whimsical with her pert pose and basket, though I'm not sure what's hanging out of it! ... View more info

Handcolored Postcard Residence of Z. Davis North Market Street Canton, Ohio

By: N/A

Price: $12.95

Publisher: Brooklyn, New York, The Albertype Co.: Circa 1907

Seller ID: 0658

Condition: Very good

This is a very pretty card, completely hand colored showing the Victorian residence of one Z. Davis of North Market Street, Canton Ohio. The card was made by the Ambrotype Company, but it's a bit tricky to date it, as there is no postmark. I think the definitive clue is the divided back which was not allowed by the postal service until 1907. The card was never mailed, but reads To Nettie xxx, From Jack. Will arrive in a plastic sleeve. Many Canton,Ohio cards available. View more info

Looks like Halloween judging by this 1940's era postcard featuring an Earl Carroll showgirl. I used to have an actual collection of this stuff (yeah, really) --programs, menus postcards etc.) from Carroll's days as a showman/producer/restauranteur who owned a rather racy L.A. nightspot (Earl Carroll's Vanities) on Sunset Blvd. known for its gorgeous performers. I knew a lot about him at the time, but all I remember now is that he died young (in his 50's) in a 1948 plane crash. The card has not been used and will arrive in a plastic sleeve. Check out the "top" on this woman -- a costume malfunc... View more info

Crisp as new postcard which has not been used. We know it's a real tinted photo as it shows the NBC company logo at the space for the postage stamp. Unfortunately, there are no dates available for NBC, so no clues to age. The card has not been used postally, but it does show a message in German on the opposite side of the divided back and the date 11/11/20. The subject is very pretty in evening clothes. Card will arrive in plastic sleeve. View more info
