Real Photo Postcard Young Woman in Backyard early 1900's

By: N/A

Price: $9.95

Seller ID: 0126

Nice, unused black and white real photo postcard of a young woman posing for the camera in the backyard of her home. She's wearing a skirt and a blouse with a large bow and her hair is upswept. Also visible is part of the house next door. Clearly American. What dates this card though is the paper it's printed on -- Noko -- which was in use from 1907 to the 1920's. This was taken in the early part of the span. View more info

This real photo card is set against a studio background and appears to be two brothers -- they look very much alike. The one seated, smoking the pipe and wearing the bowler hat appears to be asserting his elder status, as he is also wearing long pants, while the other one in the tophat wears knickers and long socks. The card was never used, so the stamp box is visible which normally helps date it. But the symbol, while definitely an indicator of a real photo, is one belogning to an unknown manufacturer. But the clothing clearly sets it in the early 1900's. View more info

This is one of my favorite postcards of all time! Not only is the image fetching, but the guy in the photo wrote the message on the back of it -- "1923, I am the one with no hair. The little "Morgan" looks adorable." And indeed she does with her strappy shoes, bobbed hair, parasol and fringy outfit. He's pretty spiffy too though -- check out the monacle and the spats! Only detractor is isolated edge wear. Sepia toned. View more info

Gragey and Mason Millinery Real Photo Postcard Storefront Women & Children

This real photo postcard shows the storefront of a millinery shop the name of which appears on the outdoor valance at the top and also on both windows at front. Four women -- likely the milliners and their help and three children add interest. Unfortunately, the card was never mailed so we have no idea where this shop was located, but we CAN date it, as the stamp box shows that it was printed on AZO paper and the symbols show that it dates from 1910 to 1930. This is circa 1910. The divided back was printed upsidedown. View more info

Navajo Mother and Papoose Real Photo Postcard

Price: $12.95

Publisher: Mullarky Photo:

Seller ID: 0184

Condition: Fine

Very attractive real photo postcard of a Navajo mother and her papoose. Printed on AZO photographic paper the symbols of which in the stamp box show it to have been in use from 1924-1949. I believe the card is circa 1940, as it was inside a 1940 travel brochure. Beaneath the image is white captioning, but the wheel obliterates part of it, though there's enough to decipher Mullarky Photo. Photo has a light gloss and is unused. View more info

Real Photo Postcard Newport High School Football Team

By: N/A

Price: $26.95

Seller ID: 0188

I puzzled over this one, as it does not say WHAT Newport Football High School team this is. I doubt greatly it's Rhode Island. In fact, given the barn in the background, and the fact that it came from an Ohio collection I would bet on Newport, Ohio. Check out the two guys with the Mohawks! Anyway, it's an interesting picture with a small crease to the lower left corner and spots of isolated edge wear. It was never sent in the mail and there is no message. It's printed on AZO photographic paper and the symbols on the stamp box date it from 1904-1918. View more info

I am fairly aswoon over this real photo postcard which is without question the most beautful I have ever had. The couple is attractive (the bride is especially lovely), the pose very romantic, and the details on the headpiece of her veil and at the top of her dress are exquisite in blue. The card was not sent, so it's possible to see the stamp box which shows the logo of an unknown maker of photographic paper, NBC. Consequently, there is no date. View more info

Are we having fun yet? Every time I look at this card I have to laugh. Five tourists aboard a fake boat in the arcade at the site of Ohio's grand amusement park and not a smile in the bunch, including the two clutching teddy bears! Still, this is one of my all-time favorite real photos! It was never sent, there's no stamp, no writing and no edgewear. Photo was printed on AZO photographic paper. View more info

This was a woman who took fashion seriously! Here she is looking regal in full high style Edwardian regalia with gloves, a feathered hat, a lace collar and a nosegay of flowers pinned to her bodice. The card shows no stamps and no writing -- never mailed -- and is very clean and nice save a small crease to the upper right corner. It was pr9inted on CyKo photographic paper which dates it from 1904 to the 20's, but her clothes say it all. View more info

These two jaunty guys are dressed up for the camera in overcoats and hats. Likely posed at photography studio given backdrop of flower-twined trellis. The man standing has one hand on the seated one's shoulder and a cigarette in his free hand. The seated man is smiling, wearing a bow-tie, and has something clamped in his teeth. I thought it was a cigarette, but magnification shows that it's not, as it fans outward. No writing, no stamps, and no dates, but the symbols on the AZO marking on the stamp box date it from 1908 to 1914. View more info

How charming -- a picnic with no coolers, no grills, nothing but a pretty place, hampers of food, friends and family, and mown grass to sit on. This event took place in 1911 in the Ohio River town of St. Mary's, W. Va., a very small place which got its name from a man who claimed to have seen the Virgin Mary pass by on the river in a boat. The card was postmarked April 21, 1911 from St. Mary's and sent to Mary Morgan of Logan, Ohio. The message on the divided back reads, "Dear Cousin, Glad to hear from you. Am very busy, will answer your letter as soon as I can. A crowd of us were over home ... View more info

Such a pleasant-looking lady, seemingly small in stature, yet wearing an enormous hat which looks like it's wearing her! But she still manages to be pretty and her locket and lacy dress are charming. This card was never sent. In the lower right hand corner there is an embossed name and address of the studio which took the picture, but some of the raised letters have disappeared with no loss of color, oddly enough. What I can make out is "East ---- Studio, 225 E. Main, Newark, Ohio. Card shows a light crease to lower corner where the studio address is and a touch of wear to the tip of the corne... Seller ID: 0277

This is a fun real photo postcard showing a man pretending to be a train passenger and a young boy dressed up like a conductor to take his ticket. Maybe a grandfather and grandson on an afternoon in Pittsburgh having some fun. I wish we could date it exactly, but it was never sent and has no writing on it at all. The only clue is the markings on the stamp box which indicates by the four squares in the corners that it's from 1926 to the 1940's. Big span, but a great image! View more info

Very handsome group shot of the members of the Old Settlers, which was most likely comprised of the descendants of the early pioneers who settled in Brunswick, Medina County, Ohio. The printing on the card shows the date August 13, 1910. They appear to be grouped in front of a church with everyone decked out in their finery. Especially charming are the little girls in the front row at the far right. The card is in very good condition save a gray stain to reverse side of divided back. View more info

Twenty people on a hay wagon and the poor horse get short-shrift, but what a fun real photo postcard. It was even taken by a photography studio. On the space provided beneath the image the sender wrote, Hello, Sister! How does this look? Sadie." When you flip the card over you find THREE postmarks -- the original comes from Gracey, Ohio followed by Caldwell, Ohio and finally to it's destination in Chandlersville, Ohio. The recipient was Mary Mason. Oh, and look closely -- Sadie put a small "x" on her dress so you can find her! View more info

This is a most interesting group of people. Every one of them is SMILING which was not too common. The older woman in the white blouse has her arms around the two people next to her and the young girl next to the guy with the dolls is looking across at the older woman. If I were to guess I'd say the lady to the far right is Grandma, the older woman in the white blouse is her daughter and the two young adults are the daughter's kids. Note that both "kids" have their legs stretched out in front of them. The young man is wearing a hat and for some reason is laughing and holding two odd dolls. The... View more info

This real photo postcard is especially lovely. It's unused both postally and for a message, and is a real photo of a lovely young woman holding roses to her face. The surface is shiny so the flowers in the corners seem to sparkle. The image is encased in an oval "frame". The reverse side shows a triangular logo in the area where the stamp would be indicating that the origin is NBC, a company which produced real photo cards. Only faults is a small bit of wear to top left corner. Will arrive in plastic sleeve. View more info

I have had many Taylor Inn cards over the years, but never this one. Not only is it a real photo (and is even marked as such), but it also shows a woman walking on the street trailing a fancy dress in her wake -- which is rather surprising given that Lodi was a small agrcultural town. The two appendages in the front to the right of the awning that says DRUGS (which I don't recall seeing before either) are two awninged bays fitted with masses of flowers in boxes. The card is postmarked Sept, 24, 1910 and was sent to Mrs. B. Kennedy of Summit Street, Akron, Ohio. The message reads, "Another chic... View more info

Card appears to be a class picture of the students, all young adults, the girls with Gibson Girl hair-dos and the boys in suits and hats. But my favorite is the guy sitting on the sill of the open window with his legs dangling down the building. All information was provided by the white lettering at bottom of card.
