Tres bien! This French ship booklet is a thing of beauty, not often seen. The booklet is big at 8" tall and 12" wide and shows off its beauty in 18 counted pages. There are black and white photographs galore, but the real eye catchers are the paintings, especially the double spread of the smoking room rendered by Richard Lindner. There's also a spread showing the exterior of the rebuilt ship. The S.S. Ile de France launched originally in 1927, but was turned into a ship for troops in 1941. It wasn't until 1949 that she was launched again, rebuilt and decorated by the finest designers. The book... View more info

They are all crisp and clean, including back, but there is no informatio on photographer. Each back is stamped with a number and there is a bit of residue from a strip of paper which may have been helpful. The photos measure 8-1/4" x 10-1/2". I just found this array of fun things in a travel collection I bought a couple years ago. Everything was in the envelope with the restaurant advertising. The envelope, the card, and business card came from the China Quanjude Group which introduced the roast duck seen in the photo in 1864, during the third year of Tongzhi, Quing Dynasty. There's also a Boarding Card from the China International Travel Service, a small advertising card which lists the Chinese Dyanasties and the items which can be bought at the store, and lastly, two very attractive Chinese characters on beautiful paper. . . .... Nautical charts are interesting and this one is huge. The folder is a bit toned and has a couple small abrasions -- one at upper left hand corner at front and one on back of the folder at the middle left. Both sides of it offer extended information. I opened the map to its length and measured it at 15" x 57" long (see photos). The map is pristine with no tears to folds -- no defects at all. The map's scale is 1.40.000 nautical miles. There's also a brochure inside with a 1975 tide table for Long Beach Island and vicinity published by Sandy's Sport Shop of Surf City, New Jersey. I had one of these years ago and it had the same strike-out on the upper left front cover over the original price. I wonder if it's come back to me. There's much to read in this booklet-- first of all, the itinerary, and then on to the history and a look at the individual ships, plus info on the the Sun-Fish Sail-In and activities such as the New York Times Sail Regatta and the Shriners coming in on the water.
