Woodworking just got easier with this giant one piece fold-out that provides on both sides enough information and diagrams to make the table on the front cover. Closed this instructional fold-out measures 8-1/2"x11", but opens to a generous 22" wide by 34" long. View More...
Very nice clean catalog showcasing the ribbons available in 1939 from the company --all 30 samples intact with available colors listed under each swatch. The catalog measures 8" high and 9-1/2" wide and has five pages of samples. It was geared to the florist trade, so other items mentioned include flowerpot covers, corsage pins, corsage boxes, cut flower boxes, chiffon, gold or silver cord, rubberized shoulder and wrist shields, and green florists' thread. Very nice! View More...

This is an interesting item, published for a contest which was advertised around the world. In the U.S. the kit was sent via the local newspapers, in this case the Detroit Times. Oddly, there is no year stated, so I did some research and found a 1932 Syracuse, New York newspaper story about the contest. Then envelope had many small tears, so I taped the edges to stabilize it. Inside here is a card about the contest itself, another one with intricate instructions and four large cards with many, many, many pieces to assemble. The sad part is, though not surprising, only boys were allowed to comp... View More...
This unusual offering consists of four crisp large, folded pattern sheets (unused) for building a cowboy guncart -- scale 3/8"=1". The pattern is still in its original mailing envelope and also includes advertising for the company's 1/3" scale chuckwagon, plus six detailed 4"x6-/2" glossy color photos showing various angles. All items in excellent condition except some toning to patterns. Very unique design rendered by Roger Peterson of Long Beach, California. View More...
This is a very large booklet measuring 10-1/2" x 13-1/4" and has fourteen counted pages of information including the reverse sides of front and back covers. There are many examples of the various pottery items -- Laguna, Name, Santa Ana, Santa Clara, Santo Domingo. Taos and Picuris, Zumi and many more, plus vintage photographs in black and white showing the artists at work. There's also explainable text and even a few pages for children. Booklet is clean and tightly bound with no names or writing. View More...
The paper cover is rather lightweight on this catalog, so it's no wonder it was a little loose. I re-enforced it with archival tape alongside the spine at the right hand side of the picture. It hardly shows. The catalog has fifteen pages in color and offers instructions. Crafters could buy kits with everything needed to make the ship rug (see photo) and other attractive designs. The catalog measures 8" tall and 11" wide and has 16 pages of info including the back cover. View More...
Though this is actually a magazine, it's printed in newspaper fashion and yet remains remarkably good. There are few tiny edge tears and a chip from the side of page one, but I have been able to mend all tears at folds with non-browning archival tape which is nearly invisible. When opened the magazine measures 12"x16-1/2". The two brown stickers on the face are the mailing labels to De Soto, Missouri. This is the Christmas issue so there are holiday stories, but also an article about embroideries at the London Arts and Crafts Exhibition as well as two pages devoted to embroidery patterns. Ther... This is a collectible magazine which shows the reader the latest styles from New York and Paris, plus hints on hat making, the hat of the month with instructions on how to make it, insider gossip, and many ads for millinery supplies. The hat on the cover was an Emme Original. Magazine is clean and nice with just a small bit of staining to bottom edge. Measures 9" x 12" and has 20 pages. Not seen too often. A few other issues available. View More...
Crepe paper has long been synonymous with life's festive events and no one knew the business as well as the Dennison Manufacturing Company which set up shop in Framingham in 1897. Although the company merged with Avery in 1990, there was a time when the railroad that ran in front of its red brick buildings groaned under a heavy load of crepe paper in a rainbow of colors. This booklet uses strong graphic drawings to unveil a a parade of great ideas. It's clean and bright inside and out with no names or writing. Measures 5-3/4" x 8-1/4 and has 36 pages. View More...
This is a 1970 reprint of the original 1915 booklet produced to accompany an exhibit held at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition. It is clean and tightly bound with just a small stain to upper front corner from an old price label which fell off and residual glue on reverse side of cover from a removed bookplate (no paper still adhering). I will enclose a brand new plate to use or not at buyer's discretion. Booklet measures 8"x11" and has 34 black and white plates with descriptions printed on coated paper. View More...
Very handsome catalog from a company which billed itself as "New York City's Pioneer and Leading Art Needlework Shop." It measures 7"x10" and has 31 pages. The attractive purple and cream cover is repeated inside with purple print and purple art throughout. It appears that the company sold finished items stamped with an embroidery design for the customer to complete. Among the items offered are pillow tops, laundry bags, silverware holders, curtains and valances, towels, luncheon sets, children's clothes, kimonos, aprons, bedspreads, dresses, crocheted bags, pillow cases and more. Very clean a... View More...
These four booklets taught young boys all manner of subjects -- first aid, Indian crafts, natural history, astronomy and more. The Lone Scouts were loosely organized, as membership did not hinge on adult leadership. Many kids lived in rural areas and were truly lone scouts. All you had to do was sign up through the mail and you could obtain the various publications and other items. In 1924, however, the loners merged with the Boy Scouts. The strong Native American influence was that of the works of Ernest Thompson Seton. Booklets measure 4" x 6" and have a cumulative 223 page count. Booklets a... View More...
Very nice, clean, attractive booklet bound with a plastic spiral to lie flat while working. The author explains that the two variations -- which are very attractive -- have their origins in Buddhists designs. The instructions are very straightforward and are augmented by drawings and charts. There are also some color examples of finished quilts for inspiration. Manual measures 9" x 11" and has 112 pages, plus color plates at back. View More...
Very nice catalog -- clean and bright inside with no names or writing. There's a few spots of edge wear and rubbing to edges at back, and darkening at spine, but overall it's quite good with a tight binding. The company provided equipment and supplies for brass, pewter, aluminum, silver and copper work. Items included are metals in sheet and wire form, hammers, mallets, anvils, solders, enamels, stones, findings, and etching and polishing materials. Many black and white photos and drawings. VERY attractive! View More...
Very nice, clean crochet booklet from 1916 with wonderful ideas for crochet which could be adapted today. The lacy yokes would be pretty on a top or a dress, there's a tasseled covering for a library table, plus two very cute purses, and several different crocheted containers. Very charming. Measures 8"x10-1/2" and has 15 pages with large illustrations. View More...
Beautiful black and white postcard of a French woman (Cherbourg)cleaning or polishing pottery jugs. The card is postally unused and contains no message and no date. The printing along the left edge in black reads "Collections F.C. Cherbourg" and that at the bottom reads "Environs de Cherbourg - Paysanne Normande." Will arrive in a plastic sleeve. Only fault is toning around edges of back of card. View More...
Very nice booklet which provides real information. I just discarded another one that had two pages of instruction and the rest pretty pictures. This one shows many instructional photographs in black and white, plus 19 projects which are also explained. Included are these techniques: making off-center shapes, cluster pots, a Yunnan cooker, the combination pot, tall pots from small kilns, pouring spouts, pulling your handles, rounding out a squared pot and more. Booklet is clean and tightly bound with no names or writing. Measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 64 pages. View More...
This is a really helpful instructional manual with much explanation and large bright photographs. It measures 6" x 9" and has 56 pages. It's clean and tightly bound with just a couple corner crease to cover. I have re-enforced them with almost invisible archival tape to keep them from snapping off. The projects are fabulous -- including a work basket with a lid, an open basket, a lamp shade, and a round box with a lid. Other projects include a corset cover (probably won't need that one!), a scarves, pillows, table covers, nightgowns, a child's dress, a baby bonnet, a bedspread and a bolster. ... View More...
Cover art is gorgeous and the ideas in this little booklet can easily be recreated today. It was published by the Dennison Company which brought out all types of craft books and supplies -- everything from paper flowers, to baby and wedding shower ideas and crafts. This one focuses on making flowers and beads with sealing wax. Lots of pictures and info. What's dazzling is the two page color illustration of the hues then available from Dennison -- spectacular! Booklet measures 5"x7-1/2" and has 24 clean, tightly bound pages. View More...
