Price: $30.00

Publisher: Cleveland, Ohio, Oakwood Club: 1980

Crisp, beautiful, like new book which commemorated the 75th anniversary of a beloved Cleveland Jewish Country Club which opened its doors in 1905. Though it has since closed, the Oakwood Club is a Cleveland landmark. The book is quite lovely with much gilt to face board, bright gilt printing on spine, and numerous color photographs at the back of the book. If you are interested in genealogy there are many names mentioned in these pages to add to your family's story. Book measures 6-1/4" x 9-1/4" and has 63 pages, plus the color photos and the roster of members. View more info

Clean, tightly bound trade catalog from a company which specialized in guns for target, sporting, and home protection. It measures 6" x 9-1/4" and offers 28 pages, plus items for sale inside back cover. Manufacturers include Iver-Johnson, Harrington-Richardson, Colt, Stevens, Smith & Wesson, Hartford, Haenel Works of Europe, and Winchester. Only faults are toning around edges, former owner's name written on lower front cover and at top of first pages, and a small abrasion at both front and back covers. Overall good. View more info

Trade catalogs are always interesting to peruse, but if you are a hunter or target shooter, this one is a blast (ha-ha!) from the past, especially when you see the prices. There are many illustrations and a vast variety of products filling 264 pages. The catalog measures 8-1/2" x 11" and is tightly bound and clean. There's some wear to the spine edges, but none is serious and doesn't impinge on the integrity of the binding. The lower corner of the front cover and the top corner of the back cover are creased, but I opened the layers of paper and re-glued them and also stabilized them on the rev... View more info

I haven't seen these quirky little magazines since I first started in business 19 years ago. So I'm pretty tickled to find them again. Houghton just celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2015. To celebrate they printed a special issue of the popular magazine which was closed down in 2008. These 13 I have now are nice and clean, all identical in format and design -- just different accent colors. They're small in size measuring just 4"x7" and are billed as a publication "for people who like to do their own thinking." Topics range from products made by the company and other interesting things that... View more info

An amazingly nice catalog -- clean and bright inside and out. The catalog went onlyto dealers and therefore was of limited availability. It measures 8-1/2" tall and 11" wide. No names or writing and pristine pages printed on quality coated paper. Each page has a different gun with a photo and information about it. There is also an index at back -- see photo. 42 pages. Very nice program for the races held at the Cumberland Municipal Airport May, 15, 16, 17, 1964. The event included the national championship and regional races. Previous owner penciled in notes for some races which could be easily removed, but you may not want to, as it shows who won etc. Program measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 20 pages including a blank one for notes which is unused. Includes auto related advertising. Faults are these: a tear to bottom of spine which I repaired with non-browning archival tape on both sides and a small stain to one page. View more info

Here we have a rather hard to find program for this 1946 football match between Brown (host) and Canisius College of Buffalo, New York. The program measures 7-1/2" x 10" with 24 pages, all printed in tones of brown and white. Great photo of the Captain of the Brown team, James Lalikos, standing on what appears to be a Bruins monument. Brown won the game at fourteen to six. View more info

This is a marriage of two magazines -- Arts & Decoration and The Spur. The Spur was quite large (I have some issues listed here), but the combined magazine is slimmer and smaller at 10" x 12-1/2" with 50 pages. Subjects include the police dog, horses and equestrian sport in the Carolinas, golf in the Bahamas, valley ranching in Wyoming, American crafts, rugs and mirrored walls. View more info

Very nice catalog which isn't all glitz and no substance. This one's clearly a labor of love. This issue came out to coincide with the 22nd Sportscards Collector Convention held at the International Exposition Center (known by the locals as the IX Center) in Cleveland, Ohio. The issue served as both program and catalog. Varner's Shoebox cards covered a collector's gallery, pre-war cards, Bowman cards, Topps cards, PSA- graded cards, football, basketball and miscellaneous cards. Catalog measures 8" 10-1/2" and is clean and tightly bound. Great asset to a collector. View more info

This catalog will arrive with the two extra advertising pieces I found inside, both of which were produced by Ithaca in 1940. The only thing that bothers me a little is that the first page is numbered 3, but there is no evidence of any pages having been torn out. Page three was blank initially until a notice was pasted onto it with a list of new prices for June, 1940 (see photo). The booklet measures 8-1/2" x 11" and ends on page 22. The First extras is a three panel brochure advertising Ithaca, Lefever and Western Arms models -- all repeaters and new prices. The second item is a four page br... View more info

Crisp and clean as new with the keepsake medallion in it's original bag stapled to front corner. NMLRA is still conducting target shooting competitions using single bullet muzzleloaders. The competition is about sport of course, but it's also an endeavor for competitors to arrive in historical garb. The program measures 5-1/2" x 8-3/4"and has 16 pages. The only defect is the fate of many programs of all kinds -- a vertical fold right now the center. It's unusual to find the token. View more info

This poster appears to have never seen the light of day. There are no thumbtack marks, no tears, and no writing-- just crisp white paper. The sports show was an annual big deal, as told by the Cleveland Press in the photo from the previous year which drew in "big crowds." There are several areas for dealers to choose from the spaces showing on the poster, all explained including prices to exhibit. Among the items to be shown were planes, automobiles, boats, camping, fishing and hunting, skates, skis, swimming goods, log cabins and a lot more. There were also spaces for groups, clubs, associa... View more info

This card isn't perfect -- there are flat creases to all corners, though all are lying flat. I normally would have passed it by, but this is the Cleveland East High School football team of 1929. But the back of the card is what really made me buy it -- most of the players are named and matched to numbers. Surnames include Harmony, Doad, Nardi, Anderson, Shannon, Samuelson, Bendokus, Coates, Sharkey, Storey, Gentile, Mahalic, Blikle, Hylinski, Rubin, Tomb, Balcombe, Tanske, Siathowski, Rashoski, Artale,Blimpie, Buchman, Landon, Hamilton, Swearington, Rytel and Bell. I looked and looked for a date on this catalog with no luck until I realized that it was screaming from the 1970's! In the 70's everything was orange, brown, harvest gold and and poppy, hence the colors on the front cover. Inside there is much brown ink against the white pages. The catalog measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has 36 pages. Everything is measured, described, and priced throughout. P.S. I found a date after all on a note about shipping. It was 1970. View more info

Big crowds made McElroy Park on a good day with nice covered bleachers, plus the outside seats. As for the card, there's a bright postal stamping on the back showing that Jack Joyce, of Canton, Ohio sent it. The sender posted the card at Mound City, South Dakota, also in 1951. The writer was clearly a baseball fan, so I'll let the buyer read the rest. The card will arive in a brand new plastic sleeve. View more info
