Very nice, clean catalog with no writing or creasing to pages. It appears to have been put away and never hung up. When closed the catalog measures 10-1/2" x 13-3/4" which means it will double that on the wall. Every month spotlights a pretty young woman and along with her pictures are product pictures and information about them. View More...
A rather hard to find booklet which contains quality black and white photographs of Timken Steel, Timken Carbon and Alloy Seamless Steel Tubing, Timken Bearings, Timken Rock Bits, and Timken Fuel Injection Equipment, totaling more than 100 images, each with explanatory captioning. Book measures 6"x9". Cover shows light soil only. Pages are tightly bound and clean with the exception of a a smudge to upper corner of first page. Former owner penciled notes to blank page at back. Otherwise quite good. View More...
The colorful scene of a sportsman in a boat in what looks like a marshy area made me think this blotter might be newer than it is. I got out my magnifying glass and there it was though -- a 1917 date. The Willard Battery Storage company was founded in Cleveland in 1896 by Theodore Willard. It stayed the course al the way through WWII, but finally changed hands in 1952. As you can see, there's another comapany name on the blotter, the St. Thomas Storage Battery Company, but here's why. Under the phone number of St, Thomas it reads, "All Makes of Batteries Repaired. Authorized Willard Service S... View More...
This is a wonderful wartime report from Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing covering all aspects of the business including power generation; power distribution; processing items such as metals, coal, rock products, cement, forest products, petroleum, rubber, chemicals, food, and solvent oil; industrial; construction and agriculture; and transportation. The book is over-sized at 8-1/2"x 11" and has 80 pages. Minor small horizontal creases to spine, likely endemic to the publishing process, but otherwise clean and tightly bound. There is also a letter laid-in to accompany it. The book does have text, b... View More...
This one's fairly scarce and has no date, but I researched a few products and they seemed to hail from the 70's. The booklet is oversized at 8-1/2"x11" with 40 pages. It's printed on quality coated paper and is illustrated with technical charts and graphs and black and white photographs. Book is clean and tightly bound with just some mild toning to edges of back cover and at bottom front cover. Does not extend inside. View More...
Very nice clean catalog measuring 4" x 7", 32 pages of products and facts -- air circuit breakers, oil switches and circuit breakers, oil motor starters, service switches, handy tables, and underwriters' motor rules. Includes photos of products, charts and technical drawings. View More...
Very clean, nice issue of one of the star magazines of the 30's. The photography is excellent, as are the articles and the magazine's design. Three topics grabbed my attention -- a colorful piece about Anheiser-Busch and its bottled beer, Part I of a story about women in business, and a look at Mr. Rockefeller's renovation of colonial Willamsburg. There's also a piece about the cotton industry, one on U.S. Smelting & Refining and a profile of Harry Hopkins. Magazine has no real defect of note. It measures 11-1/2"x14" and has 140 pages. OVERSEAS ORDERS WELCOME, but shipping may be higher than s... View More...
There's lots to read about in this over-sized magazine, but I think the most provactive is the story about Saks Fifth Avenue, which to this day keeps the population fashionable. Other topics of interest are: The Industrial South; Nunn-Bush and labor; the adventures of Del Monte; energy sources, including solar; and a look at the American Medical Association. Magazine is big at 11-1/2" x 14" with 174 pages. It's clean inside and out with just minor spots of edge wear to cover, but overall is really very nice. We have others listed online here, but also have a stack that are not on yet. So if yo... View More...
The bright red and black cover is printed on shiny paper and the design is very pleasing. The booklet has pristine pages with many black and white photos, drawings, charts, and graphs filling 32 pages. The emphasis is on the Foster Patent Superheater. Measures 6" x 9" and has only light wear to cover and a blck stai to riht side of front cover (see photo). Much text. View More...
This is a decidedly mysterious and odd item. It consists of four photographs of the former Shale Brick Company of Columbus, Ohio, plus a drawing of an auger. The drawing shows paper around the edges and old glue stain, so at least it, if not the photos too, had been affixed to something else at one time. Everything is old, but the mounting and labeling on cardstock is quite contemporary. The photos are labeled The Shale Brick Company, Columbus, Ohio 17th Avenue Brick Plant, Mixing Plant, Elevated Tressel (sic) for Cars Conveying Raw Materials to Plant, and Mixing Plant. The drawing is caption... View More...
A silver and black graphic and a hard surface cover announce that this catalog is something special. The only fault is a crease to lower front corner. I tried to flatten it, but with minimal success. The catalog measures 8-1/2" x 11-1/4" and has 84 pages. But at the back of the catalog are THREE surprises -- the company's January, 1961 Stock Report, a Price list for 1958, and a brochure for the company's Hilo Set Plugs. Very nice find! This is a nice little package of materials about Gorman-Rupps self-priming centrifugal lightweight pumps available in three sizes -- the Midget 1-1/2"; The Hawk, 2"; and The Eagle, 3".The large blue leaflet has much information on both sides. The previous owner wrote the prices on the cover and penciled information on the top of the repair parts list which also serves as instructions manual. He also remarked that he bought his pump in 1956 which is why I have some idea of when this was published. The original envelope is intact and more instructions on the reverse side. There are also three wa... View More...
This is one of the Hercules bulletins, but in this case it's less booklet because the goal is to open it up to a gigantic poster measuring 21 x 34". The model DRXB is the focus with two pages of specifications, plus a good photograph of the motor and another of the Hercules plant, a power chart and blueprints. [ BUS. / AD.] View More...
Very nice clean bulletin issued by the Hercules Motors Corporation of Canton, Ohio. There is no date, but research shows that the company was named Hercules Motor Corp and Hercules Engines from 1920 to 1940. The engine and power units had 4 to 198 horse power and their uses included commercial vehicles, industrial equipment, agriculture, road machinery, cotton gins, oil field service, pump drives, saw mills, generator drives and heavy duty power equipment. Contents explain how to choose the right engine and offers much technical info. Measures 8-1/2" x 11" and has seven pages. [ BUS./AD. ] View More...
I have now, and have had for many years, lots of paper about Hercules and its role in the transportation business. Yet this item has never before crossed my path and couldn't find it online either. There's no date, but it's an early item fitted with 30 pages with a picture at the top of each and a description, a part list and the price itself. There are longer description on the Merits of Tubular Gear Axle; Hercules Fifth Wheel; Direct Spike Hub No. 34; Bent Spoke Hub No. 33; Wood Wheel Bushing; Hercules Tubular Bolster; Hercules Tubular Gear -- End Spring; Hercules Tubuar Gear Side Bar; and m... I'm certain that this is a reprint, but even so, there are virtually no copies out there.I bought this one years ago and stashed it in the closet where I found it this morning. It's very clean and tightly bound and the pictures are superb -- black and white, but beautifully saturated as a gravure. The catalog is clean and tightly bound and measures 6" x 9-1/4" and has 59 pages including technical drawings at back.Former owner wrote this on the reverse side of the cover --"Robbins & Lawrence Building (Now American Precision Museum) Windsor, Vermont. July 12, 1988. View More...
This is a very interesting booklet advertising contemporary windows for architectural builds. Two pages have new information stapled over the material beneath it. The original was also red X'd, but you can still read that too (see photo). Actually it's a good thing because it shows company momentum.T he drawings are really attractive and all eight pages (not counting the x-d ones) are filled with it. The cover photo is the work done on the Firestone Research Laboratory in Akron, Ohio. Rather scarce. View More...
I got these two ice cream items together, so I decided to keep them that way. The first item is a leaflet advertising the Universal Ice Cream Cutting Machine manufactured by Wm. E. Kay & Sons. The leaflet measures 6" x 9" with a photo on the front and two on the back. The inside discusses the ice cream cutter's construction, size, operation, adjustment, sanitary features and a guarantee. There's also a testimonial from the Richwine Ice Cream Company. The second item is very attractive and creative from the Waldorf Ice Cream company of Akron -- all pastel colored art showing fabulous dessert... View More...
Inside Ohio magazine was in its second year of publication when this issue was produced. It's not seen too much which is too bad because it has a lot to offer. There are color paintings, photographs and articles about many aspects of the state. Here, for example, the topcs include the iron men, tool builders, a history in old newspapers starting in the late 1700's, the Ohio auto industry sub-assembly line, Ohio's advanced electric power production, education, science, transportation, communication, and the beloved Wright Brothers and aviation. Magazine measures 8-1/2" x 11-1/2" and has 114 pag... View More...
