I have had these prints for years, but never listed them because the title is in Asian characters. I can't recall where I even got them, but they are quite handsome. There are supposed to be 16 black and white numbered prints, all portraits drawn with pencil, inside the folder and all are present. But here's the nice surprise -- nine other numbered prints in full color appear to have hitchhiked along. These apparently were at least a set of 10, but one is missing. Nine nice freebies aren't bad though! :-) The folder measures 7-1/2"x10-1/2" and is very clean, though toned. A previous owner also... View More...
This is one of those Ohioana items which are new to me. It's always fun when a new one appears. This over-sized booklet traces the beginning of the residential movement for Buckeye artists in 1983 when Ohio joined the Studio Workspace Program in Long Island, New York. Next came the Headlands Center for the Arts near San Francisco in 1997. The artists in residence shown in this booklet were Gretchen Stevens Cochran, Malcolm Cochran, James Duesing, Gilda Edwards, Sean Foley, Mitchell Sanford, Karen Snouffer, Kay Willens, and Walter Zurko. The booklet measures 8" x 12" and has 40 pages. View More...
Very beautiful exhibition catalog in lovely condition. A soft cover book is wrapped around completely with the treal colored "jacket" which may have had a ribbon tie given the two slots for one, but doesn't require it, as the jacket stays closed without it.The exhibition is an artistic interpretation of the only Biblical hymn to wome -- Aishet Hayil. As such 32 artists were igven a line of the poem of that name to interpret with their art. The collective works are a tribute to one woman -- Julia Kiener Forchheimer (1900-1991) who opened the handweaving department in the Bezalel School of A... View More...
It's amazing that this item remained intact since it came out in 1946 and then was given as a Christmas gift in 1981. There is a small inscription on the reverse side of the front cover which reads, "From Konstanze, Christmas, 1981." Everything is clean and nice with just one small spot of foxing to two prints and a light freckling to the folder. The prints are on paper and measure 7-1/2" x 10". All are views of historic places -- Albany on the Hudson, Baltimore, Boston City Hall, Cleveland, Detroit, Galveston, Jefferson City -- Missouri River, Kansas, Louisville, Lockport, Ohio -- Erie Canal,... I love Apeture magazine -- it's not only beautiful, but insightful in its choice of topics and of course the photography is stunning. This issue from summer 1993 is in excellent condition and has some extra ephemera pieces laid-in. There's a Fall 1993 catalog, plus a booklet titled Voyage of the Eye by Brett Watson which also contains the subscription blank with an envelope. Articles cover the comic art of Dario Fo; the paparazzi, recent (at the time of writing) new Italian photography, the Mafia, southern Italy, and more. All photographers are Italian. Very nice publication which is printed completely in two colors -- orange and white. The book is clean and tightly bound, but there is some wrinkling and a few glued tears to the spine. Otherwise it's crisp and clean. The book measures 8-1/4" x 11-1/2" and has 230 pages to showcase the largest group of Arab artists in the world. There are photographs and art on the edges of the pages, but the book primarily explains the festival and its prize winners. It even has color wheels which show the activity of Facebook and Twitter fans. Very nice -- even the exterior page edges are light orange. [ FI... View More...
