Condition: Good to Very Good

Twelve issues -- a full run of this historic Vermont magazine for the year 1903. All are clean and tightly bound with the following faults: chipping to the bottom edge of front cover of one, browning to edges of white cover of another, light fading to cover edges of all of the brightly colored covers, and wrinkling to first page of the issue with the chipping which we were able to flatten in book press. Interiors of some shows toning to paper at edges and one has a snip missing off corner of one page. Among the topics covered are: Catholics, Protestants, Jews , Unitarians and Universalists in... Very quirky advertising brochure for the Corona Kid Company of Boston, strangely not dated. The oldest reference of the company I found was the July 3, 1901 issue of Book & Shoe Recorder which lists them as an advertiser for leather. The next reference was 1903 when Shoe Worker's Journal mentioned that the company baseball team was the best in the area. Then in 1914 there was a notice that they had moved up South Street. The last notice was in 1921 which indicated that the company was big in patent leather -- which brings us to this advertising piece. Its big sell was that Corona Colt leather ... View more info

Price: $30.00

Publisher: Provincetown, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, The Wharf Players Theatre: 1926

This innocuous program belies its importance. The theatre on the wharf pictured on the cover is where it all began in 1915 when many shining lights turned up in Provincetown, one of whom, was playwright Eugene O'Neil who came bearing a trunkful of plays. The would-be actors picked one, staged it, and began what would become a string of hits that even went to Broadway. One of the those plays, The Children of the Moon, which is the one playing here in this program, debuted on Broadway in 1923 starring Beatrice Terry, an actress descended from the famous theatrical Terry family. The biggest star ... View more info

As you can see, the cover shows dampstain, but fortunately it appears much less on the blue endpapers inside the catalog. I might have passed it by if I didn't know how hard it can be to find these old school catalogs which are interesting and also helpful with family genealogy. There is also some foxing on the photo fold-out at the front and at the back of the book -- anywhere that the paper is coated. The bulk of the catalog is NOT on coated paper though, so it is showing no foxing. This school is still in operation and traces its beginnings to the 19th century. The catalog provides the na... All items in this three piece lot concern the same topic which required the ministrations of the Republican senator from Maine in 1962, Margaret Chase Smith. Smith responded affirmatively in a typed letter which was also signed and included this brochure which reads Sen, Margaret Chase Smith Welcomes You to your Nation's Capitol. The last item is the gallery pass requested for August 13, 1962 for the inquirer and his wife. It too is SIGNED by Margaret Chase... View more info

I very much like old urban planning/historical preservation items, so of course had to have this one. It was likely printed for the exclusive use of the Charlestown Preservation Society, so there aren't too many kicking around. The booklet is clean and oversized at 9"x11" and spiral bound to lie flat. The plastic comb is completely intact. It's illustrated throughout with maps and black and white photographs. A very interesting retrospective of the town. View more info

I think this is the prettiest card showing Deering Park in Portland, Maine I've ever seen. The white caption at the bottom left corner adds to the attractiveness. The card has not been used and is very crisp and clean with just a tiny wear spot at tip of both right corners and a small discoloration at back above stamp box. The stamp box at back is the clue that it's an older card, as it states, "One cent for United States and Island Possessions, Cuba, Canada and Mexico. Two Cents for Foreign." Card will arrive in brand new plastic sleeve. View more info
