Lion Brand Milk Premium Catalog The Magic Door

By: N/A

Price: $18.00

Publisher: Brooklyn, New York, Nestle's Milk Products:

Seller ID: 0014

Condition: Good

Scarce premium booklet for Lion Brand Condensed and Evaporated Milks. There is curiously no date on this, but it appears to be from the 1920's. Research shows that the premium program was in effect as early as 1915 and was suspended in May of 1943 and all premium stores were closed due to war shortages. The book measures 4" across by 10" tall and has 26 pages of gifts to choose from including toys, household goods, jewelry, sports equipment etc. But the most interesting part is of interest to those who collect Girl Scout and Boys Scout ephemera. The book shows a page each for this with multipl... View more info

Condition: Fine condition in Very Good Box

Very pretty cover and two more paintings inside. The book has not been used and is very nice in its original white box. The book is without defect and the box nearly so. There are a couple small white spots on the white background which I almost missed. Otherwise it's a clean, sturdy box. The book measures 7-1/2" x 10" and is clean and bright inside and out. The binding is that of a ring binder that we used to take to school. The book has spaces for name, date and place of birth, age, and date of death. There's also room for photos, funeral notes, the names of officiants, music, the rituals at... View more info

Fabulous over-sized auction catalog filled with rare and beautiful items, all of which are pictured in full color. Measures 10-1/2"x12-1/2 and is clean and tightly bound with just a few spots of wear at spine, none of which compromises its integrity. The former owner's mailing label is on the reverse. This particular catalog is noteworthy due to the sale of Frank Lloyd Wright's personal car, a 1956 Aztec Red Mercedes Gull Wing designed especially for him after he redesigned a New York City car dealership which has since been demolished. The opening bid was to have been $300,000 and Jay Leno w... View more info

Very attractive magazine. The focus on this issue is Peru and ancient cultures of South America. The articles are all illustrated with color photographs, many of which depict the art of the various civilizations. Content includes these topics: Hiram Bingham and Machu Picchu; Dego de Trujillo's account of the conquest of the Inca by the Spanish in 1532; the ancient cultures of South America; and emperors of the Inca. The magazine measures 8-1/2" x 10-3/4" and has 64 pages. It's crisp and clean with no names or writing. The only fault is a light crease to lower corner of the first half of the te... View more info

Cute little book written in the French language for reading aloud to little people, or for learning to read French. It's small, measuring 5-1/2"x5" and has 10 full color pages with cute art and a short text. Booklet is clean and tightly bound with just a small bit of edge wear and former bookseller's stock number on a sticker at front. It's an old one though, so I did not have the courage to try to remove it.Rather hard to find. View more info

Postcard Wright's Trading Post Albuquerque 1919

By: N/A

Price: $9.95

Seller ID: 0260

This card was republished later by a bookstore, but this is the early one. There's a nice description on the back, but the postmark obscures it a bit. Basically it says that the trading post was a "headquarters for Indians and their curios" located in a three story building modeled after Indian architecture. A Navajo sweat house is next to it where the Medicine man cured the sick. Card was sent to Francis Russell of Minerva, Ohio from New Mexico. The message on the divided back reads, "June 4, '19. I am feeling OK. Will leave 10:15 tonight for El Paso. Get there at 10 a.m. tomorrow. Weather be... View more info

Price: $25.00

Publisher: Boston, Mass., Priscilla Publishing: 1918

Seller ID: 0837

Condition: Very good

The covers of Priscilla magazine are really sensational, but I think this one by Ronald Anderson may be my favorite to date. What a strong, bold graphic and such a pleasing vignette it portrays. As always, Priscilla is about needlework primarily, but these wartime issues don't flinch from reality either. It's all about making do and still making fine things, as well as service to one's country. It's quite large at 10"x14" and is clean and crisp. No mailing label, but it has been folded vertically for insertion in mailbox. I have ironed it and put it in the book press and it now lays flat. Issu... View more info

Very pretty card in pastels and very imaginative too. The card is embossed and clean and attractive. It was sent Feb. 11th, 1910 to Bertha Randall, Medina Ohio from her cousin who lived in next-door Seville. The message, written in pencil, reads, "Dear Cousin, Will be there with bells on. Will get there about 4:10 or 4:20. Mabel." This is an interesting message for two reasons. One is the slangy "be there with bells on", a comment which remains part of the vernacular today. The other reason is the specific times quoted. Mabel must have been taking the interurban from Seville, Ohio to Medina,... View more info

I have had these prints for years, but never listed them because the title is in Asian characters. I can't recall where I even got them, but they are quite handsome. There are supposed to be 16 black and white numbered prints, all portraits drawn with pencil, inside the folder and all are present. But here's the nice surprise -- nine other numbered prints in full color appear to have hitchhiked along. These apparently were at least a set of 10, but one is missing. Nine nice freebies aren't bad though! :-) The folder measures 7-1/2"x10-1/2" and is very clean, though toned. A previous owner also... View more info

I have had many Taylor Inn cards over the years, but never this one. Not only is it a real photo (and is even marked as such), but it also shows a woman walking on the street trailing a fancy dress in her wake -- which is rather surprising given that Lodi was a small agrcultural town. The two appendages in the front to the right of the awning that says DRUGS (which I don't recall seeing before either) are two awninged bays fitted with masses of flowers in boxes. The card is postmarked Sept, 24, 1910 and was sent to Mrs. B. Kennedy of Summit Street, Akron, Ohio. The message reads, "Another chic... View more info
